We recommend the session "HEAL-IT: Hybrid-Manufacturing Enabled Agility and Longevity of Industrial Tooling" on Wednesday, September 11 | 11:00 AM - 11:55 AM (CT) in Room W192-C.

Speakers are Lauren Heinrich (R&D Staff Member) from Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s (ORNL) Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) and David Bourdages (Product Manager, Additive Manufacturing) from OPEN MIND Technologies.

They will focus on a recent collaboration to repair a bottle mold using hybrid manufacturing which includes both additive and subtractive operations. This session will demonstrate how hybrid manufacturing was leveraged to repair the threads of a bottle mold. Specifically, the speakers will

• discuss lessons learned from this demonstrated process,
• provide insight on state-of-the-art of 5-axis CAM programming for DED, and
• present ongoing technology developments in the field of hybrid manufacturing.
